I am Jamie Howard and I will be your child’s 5th grade teacher this year. I have been teaching since 2015 and joined the St. George faculty in 2019. Previously, I have taught 3rd grade, 4th grade in California and PE and Music in Guatemala. I have earned a Bachelors  from Pepperdine University in Elementary Education and a Masters in Transcurricular Instruction, or STEAM,  from Concordia University-Portland. I believe the core of teaching is rooted in relationships and community for it takes a village to educate. My objective every year is to create a safe environment for students to learn and to foster their curiosity through the inquiry process. Outside of teaching, I enjoy trying new restaurants, quality time with family,  and traveling. Favorite travel destinations include: Los Angeles, California, Saugatuck, Michigan, Seattle, Washington, New York City, New York, San Cristóbal De Las Casas, Mexico and Lago Atitlan, Guatemala. I look forward to meeting and getting to know all of you this school year!
