Hello from Mrs. Angela Cooper!
I have over 30 years of teaching at St George.
I received my bachelor of arts degree in education from Western Illinois University in 1989. I moved to the Kankakee area in 1989 and started teaching at St George in 1990.
I have taught a variety of grades and subjects since coming to St George. I first started teaching 3rd grade, and after 4 years was moved to 6th grade. I spent 16 years teaching 6th grade and loved every minute of it. I then taught 7th & 8th Literature for a few years before finally landing in 8th ELA.
I love reading, I mean LOVE reading. I usually have 2 or 3 books that I am reading at one time. I grew up in Ft Madison, IA and was very involved in choir and theater in school.
I believe learning English, Grammar, and Literature is one of the most important things a student should learn as with the following quote:
"No Matter how smart you might be, if you don't speak and write correctly, no one will believe you're smart."
