Hello! Welcome to my webpage! My name is Sheryl Gullickson and I have been teaching at St. George since 2013. I taught Kindergarten for five years and am presently in my fourth year of teaching 7th grade ELA. It has been a joy to be able to teach ELA to my former first class of Kindergarteners. They are as awesome as they were in Kindergarten! I look forward to teaching the rest of my former Kinder students as well as the many new students at St. George.

The reasons why I love teaching at St. George are the dedicated families that support this school and the strong commitment of the entire staff.

I enjoy serving as the St. George Spelling Bee Moderator, as well as helping keep score at many of the home basketball and volleyball games. It is so fun to watch my students compete in athletics!

In 7th grade,  we cover a variety of awesome stories and articles in our Collections Textbook.  We concentrate on building reading skills which will benefit our 7th Graders in their other core classes, as well as work on fostering a love of reading! I try to emphasize that if you want to be better at something, you have to practice! Reading is no different. I encourage my students to read at least 20 minutes a night at home so they can become stronger, more confident readers.

We also have daily writing workshops focusing on the 6 traits of writing, including the purposes of persuasive, informative and narrative writing skills.

I love watching my students grow in their many ELA skills throughout the school!
